December 14, 2008 : We do have the equipment for echolink as we have had it hooked up in the past. The interface into the internet happens at Danny's QTH, VE9DKS. I brought the system down when the repeater was down, and also when floodwaters last spring threatened my basement. I have since hooked up packet at my qth and keep it on to receive mail in the PBBS. This in turn uses the Kenwood that I was using for echolink. I would rather have the kenwood interfaced with echolink as I can easily use it for base rig via the mic, as packet ties it up and cannot use mic. I am in the process of interfacing my handheld to the TNC and need to set up antenna outside for it so that will free up the Kenwood. I am testing the TNC / HT setup right now and hope to have echolink up and running soon...
When the system is up I will add some information on how to use the links, the linking codes for misc locations around the maritimes, and how to get linking codes for any repeater / simplex node in the world.
